Company Founder – Bethany K. Ocansey, a British-Ghanaian, is the former General Manager for Sevengrand Entertainment, a full service entertainment company specializing in artist and tour management with a tailored strategy in achieving international success. Sevengrand has a global clientele roster including Natalie La Rose, Florida, Wiz Khalifa, Janelle Monae and independent writers/producers/musicians. With a worldwide marketing team in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, South Africa, Canada and the USA that she works close to day to day. Ocansey successfully facilitated the signing of ‘Dillon Cooper’ to RCA/1009 Records in New York City. She was also the former promotions assistant and traffic and continuity coordinator for the number one Hip-Hop station in the US, Hot97 and the number one station for R&B, WBLS, as well as the Gospel station 1190 WLIB.
Ocansey’s first business role in the music industry was in 2005 with Atlantic Records, a major label in the USA. Being part of the global Warner Music Group family she set her sights on the development and promotion of artists at home and internationally. Advancing from Atlantic she was recruited by MTV Networks to work in the music and talent department amidst the famous Times Square, here she assisted in successfully promoting artists signed to different major labels, such as Epic, Virgin, EMI, RCA, Bad Boy, Def Jam and Sony. A big part of her focus now lays in facilitating concerts between Africa and the USA, which she has done successfully.
From a young age Ocansey had a passion for music and entertainment, likely spurned from growing up around her late Grandfather, Michael Trollope – a talented and renowned pianist and composer. She went on to work in the music industry and has been in the field of media/communications for over 10 years in various capacities; including marketing, PR, promotions, publicity, production, management and consulting.
Ocansey graduated from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York in 2007 with a Master’s of Science in Television and Radio Management and Programming. Prior to this she completed her undergraduate study in London, England, receiving a BA Honors in Communication.
Communications Director – Naomi K. Ocansey has worked in the field of Communications for over fifteen years, for some of the largest UK public sector organisations. Recently achieving her Chartered Institute of Public Relations Diploma in 2013 from Birmingham City University, England, and being an affiliated member of the professional organisation, Naomi earlier graduated from the University of Wolverhampton with a BA honours in Linguistics in 2001 and also went on to achieve various Marketing Communication certificates.
Ocansey quickly realised her passion for writing, communication techniques, and the changing needs of society to obtain, and have to access to, information. With natural interpersonal skills complimenting her extensive professional experience, she began her career using integrated approaches to keep her audiences aware. Areas of work have included: Advertising, branding, change management, campaign strategy, Internal Communication, online and PR.
Since moving to Accra, Ghana, Ocansey has worked for one of the largest telecommunication brands in the world to re-establish communications and employee engagement as a vital element of the business and has successfully increased the Employee Net Promoter Score and People Survey participation year to year since 2011. Also working as a consultant, Naomi offers strategic direction on how companies can re-engage their audiences and cement their presence across crucial communication channels.
Naomi now hopes to expand her consultation role as the need for efficient customer service and access to information in Ghana continues to grow to a necessity.
Partner – With a career spanning over 25 years in the events and production industry in South Africa and Globally, and one of the founding members of Major Productions, Debra’s journey has been one of triumph and rewarding experiences for both her and clients alike.
Debra is the director of Sharpe Event Productions – her team are a group of highly motivated and skilled individuals who share a passion for bringing creative and innovative solutions to life in the work they produce.
They invest time and consideration into gaining insight into the client’s vision and objectives of the brief in order to produce human-centric creative solutions with precise execution. They are focused on pushing conceptual bounds whilst always achieving the most viable and efficient means for the job at hand.
With a portfolio of diverse projects and client needs, they possess the knowledge and expertise to work across different parameters and platforms. From multi-day conferences to brand activations, to concerts and large-scale sporting events Sharpe Event Productions has the capability to bring each and every project to life.
Through their comprehensive production services, they value innovation, responsible business practice, and leaving a legacy in the process.
This knowledge and experience has afforded Debra the opportunity to work around the world, on a variety of different projects, with some of the most amazingly prolific people. Debra takes a personal, hands-on approach to business and is actively involved in every aspect and phase of developing the most effective, executable and practical solutions in which to achieve her client’s objectives.
It is Debra’s outgoing personality, coupled with her breadth of experience, innovative thinking, meticulous planning, attention to detail and well thought through executions of all their productions that is what assure their clients that they will undoubtedly reach the desired outcomes they were dreaming of.
Partner – A music executive veteran, who has been in the industry for over twenty years, Gary “Silky” Davis has worked in the fields of artist management, production, film, branding and licensing and has helped mold the careers of many successful artists, while working with and under such companies as Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Tommy Boy Records, Sonic Blocks, ESPN, NBA, NFL, Fox Sports, EA Sports, Artist Magazine, NBC TV, Atlantic Pacific Entertainment, WNWK Radio, GMR and Toyota Corp.
